Free plan guide
What the free plan includes, where its limits are, and what Pro and Team add.
This page explains what the free plan includes, where its limits are, and what Pro and Team add. The free plan is a complete monitoring setup, not a trial, and needs no card.
#What free includes
- 5 monitors in 1 project, checked every 5 minutes, with alerts when they go down and when they recover.
- HTTP, Keyword, Heartbeat, and Port check types.
- Push notifications on the UptimeX app, plus Slack, Discord, and webhook channels.
- Authenticated checks: request headers, request bodies for write methods, and up to 4 text content rules per monitor.
- Custom timeouts, slow thresholds, expected status codes, and redirect following.
- 1 maintenance window per project at a time.
- 7 days of history.
- The REST API and MCP with API keys, at 30 requests a minute.
#What is locked
- The API, DNS, and Scheduler check types.
- SSL certificate and domain expiry checks, and JSON field rules.
- Email channels.
- Incidents, the incident policy, status pages, and custom domains.
- Team members, the audit log, and on-call escalation, which are on Team.
Locked features show a padlock in the dashboard, with the plan that unlocks them. Alerts on the free plan follow the default incident policy: a confirmed problem alerts after 5 minutes, and the all-clear after 10 minutes of recovery.

#Making the most of free
- Point one monitor at your most important page and add a content rule, so you know the page rendered and not only that it returned 200.
- A heartbeat costs nothing on your side: have a cron job call its ping URL and you will know when the job silently stops.
- Monitors are counted per account and free gives you one project, so spend the 5 on distinct services.
- Automate with the API or an AI agent instead of clicking through the dashboard.
#What's next?
- Plans and limits: every cap by plan.
- Create a monitor: the fields the free plan unlocks.
