Invite teammates
Learn how to invite people to a project on the Team plan, and what they need to accept.
This page explains how to invite people to a project, what they need to accept, and how to change or remove them later.
#Prerequisites
- The Team plan. A Team project has 5 seats: the owner and up to 4 invited members. Pending invites take a seat until they are accepted, revoked, or expire.
- The owner or admin role in the project.
#Invite someone
- Open the project's Team page.
- Enter one or more email addresses, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines, and choose a role: Admin, Member, or Viewer. Member is the default. For what each role allows, see Roles and permissions.
- Choose Invite. Each address receives an email with an Accept invite link. The link expires in 7 days.
Inviting an address that already has a pending invite sends a fresh link and keeps the seat it already holds. The old link stops working.
#Accepting
The person opens the link, signs in or creates an account, and chooses Accept invite. The invite is accepted only by an account whose email address matches the invited address exactly, so tell them which sign-in to use:
- Email and password with the invited address is the surest way.
- Google works when the Google account's address is the invited address.
- Apple works only with Share My Email and an Apple ID whose address is the invited address. Apple's Hide My Email relay addresses can never match.
One account per sign-in method
#Pending invites
The Team page lists pending invites with their role. Choose Revoke to withdraw one. An invite that reaches its 7 days drops off the list and frees its seat, and the person has to be invited again.
#Change a role or remove someone
Owners and admins can change any member's role from the dropdown on their row, except their own, and can choose Remove on another member's row. Removal takes effect at once: the person loses access to the project, and any API keys they created for it stop working.
Any member can choose Leave project on their own row. An owner or admin can invite them back.
#Plan changes
If the project's owner moves off the Team plan, invited members lose access to the project at once. Their memberships are kept, and access returns if the owner is back on Team. Owners cannot transfer ownership of a project.
